Steinhardt’s brush became the eye of the camera. Older memories are painted in black and white or sepia tones, newer ones in color. The filmstrip winds down the stairway, as shown at left.

The black and white images shown to the left are Fleishackker pool (a giant saltwater pool, closed in the '60's, that the client swam in as a boy), the Golden Gate Bridge under construction, the cruise ship Lurline 4 (Client's mother's employer) and a cable car (in the old days locals rode these more than tourists did).
Here, the black and white images begin to turn sepia. The sepia images show the Mr. Neff's family at the beach, Mrs. Neff's family, a vacation cabin in the Santa Cruz mountains, and the Neffs' first purchased home.
