When retired salesman Allen Sachs of Santa Rosa walked into his living room he saw a beautiful view of the rolling Sonoma hills through his picture window. But when he walked through the front door into his atrium, he was faced with a blank white wall between him and the living room. It would have cost a small fortune to make a hole in that wall so that he could be greeted with his view whenever he came home. The solution? Allen hired David Steinhardt to paint a stone archway, a bit of decking that hides a baseboard heater, and the rolling hills, green after the winter rains, marching off into the distance beyond a lush garden of his favorite flower, the bird of paradise. This mural measures 7´ x 12´. |
