What do you do if you live in Santa Rosa, California and are in love with Savannah, Georgia? If you’re Dennis and Ann Tussey, you hire David Steinhardt to paint a 7´ x 28´ picture of Savannah on the wall of your house above your garden.

Steinhardt did a week of research on the architectural styles, gardens and parks of Savannah to create this highly detailed vision of typical old homes intermingled with spacious gardens. At the center is the Mercer house, painted with exquisite detail down to the highlights on the iron railings. Flanking the Mercer House, which was featured in the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, are carefully created versions of Savannah-style gardens and parks, with invented houses on the edges that show some of the distinctive architectural elements and iron work of classic Southern homes.
